Import quality controls/inspections
We follow a comprehensive Fos-Tech inspection protocol encompassing all quality related aspects and controls from the container settings and condition to the internal condition of the produce itself (pressures/brix/ripeness).
Insightful and informative reports are generated with the use of color scales to highlight the overall condition of the produce being imported with detailed advice for marketing/sales and storage.
Spot market inspections
A similar yet less intensive protocol is followed for spot market consignments with focus on delivering as accurate data as possible as quickly as possible, so the client can act immediately if neccessary.
Stock controls and monitoring
Basic inspections are carried out with focus on progressive disorders and degree of development (coloration/consistency) of the produce. Stock reports are compiled drawing attention to the remaining storage and marketing potential of the produce. Stock is then monitored until processed or distributed with updates being forwarded to the client at all times.
Pre-loading inspections
Produce ready for distribution is checked for temperature, internal disorders, degree of ripeness, coloration and package condition, ensuring it meets with the standards of both the supplier and receiver. Any discrepancies are notified immediately so actions can be undertaken.
Production controls and assistance (re-packing/sorting/grading/selection)
Processing and re-packing practices are supervised and closely monitored to ensure that quality standards are adhered to and support is given to the staff responsible during the process (disease and progressive disorder identification, other aspects that have a detrimental effect on the development of the produce) . Reports are compiled highlighting the end product and where necessary, improvements to the process itself and /or produce.
Pre & post-harvest consultancy
We offer advice and assistance to both clients and their suppliers, relating to the production of fruits and vegetables as well as ripening and storage assistance.
Cold storage & temperature management and advice
Our expertise and experience will ensure you get the best information pertaining to optimal cold store management, including what products are compatible and the best temperature regulation required for those products.
Technical assistance, support and training
Our team is dedicated to improving all quality aspects for our clients, this includes information sharing, disease and physiological disorder identification, storage potential based on arrival condition, best sorting and re-packing practices and minimalizing damage with good handling practices.
MRL Sampling and processing
As we are physically involved in the quality inspection of import and spot market produce, we are also in an ideal position to take uncontaminated samples of produce for MRL analysis. We ensure to include all relevant data pertaining to each sample taken and inform the responsible laboratory when samples are clear for pick up.
Supplier audits (production, orchards, general management)
Fos-Tech is, at the request of the client and supplier, prepared to travel to location in order to carry out inspections on all facets of the production process, including orchard condition/management, pack house condition/management, infrastructure and produce. Our assessment of the operation as a whole will give you the satisfaction that your procurement programs will be beneficial and a success for all parties involved.
Periodical/seasonal supplier reviews
Seasonal or annual reports can be generated at your request to establish the performance of your suppliers or specific producers over a fixed period. This allows us to gauge the effects of external factors on the seasonal produce, or other influencing factors and enables you and your suppliers to manage and prepare for future production.
Technical assistance to suppliers and staff
Fos-Tech is always available to offer technical advice on produce quality, production aspects and support regarding regulations on permissible and non-permissible substances used in the production of fresh fruit and vegetables. Ensuring suppliers and producers are using the right substances at the correct dosages, hereby ensuring you import safe produce according to E.U. import/food safety regulations.
Facilitation of claim handling
In the event of claims we will be on hand to assist in the co-ordination of the claim process, including communication to all responsible parties, allotting a time suitable for all involved and being present for the joint survey.
